02/08 DISCOVER OLD SAN JUAN CULTURAL TOUR
We’re starting the INRoadCon20 educational events the morning of your first full day to give you the lay of the land, check off some typical touristy check boxes and help you identify more spots you’d like to visit during your stay. In Old San Juan, buses will deliver you to walking tours of two historic forts and then drop you off for some shopping/site seeing. We’ll meet up for a meal sponsored by Brandeis Machinery & Supply Company and then bus it back to the resort for an afternoon of rest and relaxation OR more exploration on your own. Applied for 4 professional development hours for engineers.
02/10 HOW CAN HOOSIERS LEARN FROM HURRICANES?
Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in 2017, and as with many natural disasters, contractors led the recovery effort. This panel discussion will share technical insights that Hoosier road builders can learn from – what worked well, situations to avoid and ongoing efforts. We’re bringing in local contractors, federal and local agencies and safety pros to share their perspectives, then we’ll pivot to disaster preparedness in the heartland. Indiana is rarely impacted by hurricanes, but we see our fair share of weather extremes. Finally, Anthony Huey of Reputation Management Associates will help you refine a disaster preparedness plan to keep your workplace safe during emergency situations. Applied for 3.5 professional development hours for engineers.
02/12 YOUR BODY SPEAKS LOUDER THAN YOUR VOICE
Body language makes up approximately 75% of all communication. Did you know that you can determine if a person is lying by a subtle shift in their eyes? You can learn if they are interested in you simply by noticing their pupils. TONYA REIMAN will demonstrate the universal, subtle skill of reading nonverbal communication and body language through her presentation and group activities.
Reiman has provided expert body language analysis and knowledge of communication in print, radio and various TV media such as Fox News Channel, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Access Hollywood, EXTRA and Fast Money. She also contributes to articles on body language and persuasion in print media, including: Cosmopolitan, Time Magazine, US Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Men’s Health, Women’s Health and Woman’s World. Applied for 3.5 professional development hours for engineers.
