Thank you to Irving Materials, Inc. for spearheading and sponsoring INRoadCon’s first service project.
The INRoadCon20 Caring Crew is heading out to a camp that is a staging area for other volunteers helping with hurricane and earthquake recovery efforts. We’ll have the chance to increase the volunteer impact by creating a safe space for other volunteers to help out in Puerto Rico (as we saw on Monday, the island has a lot of recovery ahead). The camp itself (along with much of the rain forest) hasn’t completely recovered from Hurricane Maria.
Our participants will be painting, cleaning up, assembling bunk beds and more. Please let convention staff know if you have welding/plumbing skills, too!
You can grab some coffee and a light breakfast in the lobby at 7:30 a.m. Buses will depart from La Concha at 8:00 a.m. and should have us back to the resort by 1:00 p.m.
Don’t forget to wear your Welcome Gift T-shirt to identify yourself as a member of our Caring Crew! Please wear longer pants and closed-toe shoes if you have them. The camp will provide all of the necessary personal protective equipment.
We will be documenting the project with photos and video to tell the story of how our industry cares about building communities near and far. If you would like to use those photos in your own company’s workforce development efforts, make sure you wear a company hat, too!
